CARBON SEQUESTRATION & ECOSYSTEM SERVICES
Forest, wetland and grassland ecosystems provide direct and indirect contributions to human well-being including:
Carbon sequestration and mitigation
Biodiversity enhancement
Cultural amenity
Water and flooding projection
FERS has been a national leader in the development of forest and land use greenhouse gas foot-printing and inventory reporting. In addition, we provide a service to access natural capital through carbon trading schemes such as the UK woodland carbon code, the voluntary carbon scheme and gold standard.
We provide consultancy on forest portfolio for greenhouse gas inventories and forecasts and develop bespoke software for clients (see CARBWARE, FORECARB link). We also offer policy support government and the EU on land use land use change and forestry (LULUCF) and development of carbon tax schemes for LULUCF in countries such as South Africa.
