This was an EPA funded project aimed at developing methods to estimate the impact of land use change on soil carbon stock changes. FERS developed new tier 2 soil carbon stock change factors for reporting land use change emissions and removals in the Irish national green-house gas inventory. A soil carbon database was compiled using previous research and the Teagasc soil information system. The database was analysed using principle component analysis (PCA) to produce new soil sequestration or emission estimates for different types of mineral soils under different land use transitions.
